There is nothing in the world we love to do more than going to the farmer’s markets. The sunny atmosphere, the fresh produce, the friendly farmers—what’s not to love? For years, we have been loyal attendees of the Logan Square farmer’s market, nestled in the heart of our neighborhood.
This week marked the first market of the spring season, and as we strolled through the stalls, our excitement bubbled up again! We started our conversations with our favorite farmers with, “How was your winter? As we filled our bags with veggies, we felt a profound sense of gratitude—not just for the delicious food, but for the relationships we've built over the years.
The Logan Square farmer’s market is more than just a place to shop; it’s a support system for small Midwest businesses. We’re already looking forward to supporting our local farmers all summer long!
“May is the best month of the year in my opinion. I get to celebrate Mother’s day, my birthday and my wedding anniversary all in one month. This year on Mother’s Day I was reminded of one of my favorite poems, Good Bones by
. It’s a beautiful take on motherhood and how we try our best to draw our children’s attention to the good in the world. My favorite line reads: “This place could be beautiful, / right? You could make this place beautiful.”-M“As you might have seen from our Tea with Taylor party, I have collected blue and white vintage plates for over a decade. My sweet husband knowing this, recently saw a workshop at Third Season and signed me up for a blue & white plate carving event with Monsoon Pottery. The beautiful workshop, the hours spent channeling my inner artist and getting to know others in the creative space was a win for me on a Saturday afternoon. Can’t wait for the next one and to see my final piece!”-J
“I recently read Digital Minimalism which, as the title describes, is about reducing our time spent on social media and our phones. Overall, it was a quick and eye-opening read, but my biggest takeaway is the lost art of completely being alone with our thoughts- no music, podcasts, or phone to rely on. This past week I have created a dedicated time where I sit outside enjoying my lunch without anything except my dog rolling in the yard and watching my plants flow in the wind. It has been such a treat. More solitude time, please.” -J
Welcome to our new series where we showcase our farmers market haul- Hers & Hers! Throughout the season we’re both going to buy the same ingredients and make them in different ways. This week we both bought: Ramps, Chive Blossoms & Spring Onions.
Meg made a spring pasta. Here’s the recipe:
Finely chop a handful of ramp leaves, chives, and spring onions
Sauté them in a bit of olive oil
Boil pasta then reserve some of the pasta water
Mix pasta, pasta water, finely chopped veggies, herbs together
Add parmesan cheese, butter, a splash of milk, and salt and pepper. And voila!
Jess made a simple greek salad. Here’s the recipe:
Roughly chop chives, spring onion, cucumber and tomato
Add oregano, olive oil, red wine vinegar and salt & pepper
Mix all together and pair with a slice of sourdough from the farmer’s market!
We recently attended a
event in Chicago. We’ve been reading Cup of Jo for years and her refreshing take on content and community was one of our inspirations for starting Intuitive Taste! It was so lovely meeting Joanna, the Cup of Jo Community and being introduced to the hilarious
, the Brooklyn-based critic who publishes , a weekly newsletter about celebrities and pop culture. We were also introduced to an amazing local artist, Big Kid, who sang a such a beautiful song, tell me a story, at the top of the show. We’ve had it on repeat since.
The audio recording of the event is here. If you listen in closely, you can hear Meg ask a question about building a creative community. Joanna’s response was particularly thoughtful:
“Stamina is really underrated in any job…people think talent, or the connections, whatever these things are [will get you ahead but] stamina is so consistently the [most important] thing of all my friends who have been able to climb up in their field.” -Joanna Goddard
Oh, I love that simple idea for the ramp pasta. We've got a bunch from our farm share that I have to use.
Loved reading this with my morning coffee. The pictures are so lovely. All of them….but the one I lingered over was the flowers. I enjoyed the recipes. I’ve been on a Greek salad kick lately. Finally tired of the vinaigrette I’ve been making for fifty years. Now it’s all about garlic, lemon, and over the top oregano. Julie sent me pics of Will and Julia, and they make my old heart sing.
